En Masse Entertainment offers a F2P Option for TERA

TERA_Rising_Final_white

En Masse Entertainment™, a player-driven publisher focused on delivering fun and innovative online games, today announced that its award-winning action MMO, TERA™, will be available without a subscription starting in February, giving players flexibility on how they want to enjoy the game. TERA: Rising requires no upfront payment, and provides an in-game store as well as elite status options for players who wish to customize their experience. New players will enjoy standard status with no level cap or content restrictions, while past and current subscribers will receive permanent founder status with exclusive privileges. Any player may opt to purchase elite status, which confers a wealth of benefits, in 30-day increments.

To celebrate this next chapter of TERA, En Masse Entertainment will be launching new in-game content, including a wave-based dungeon and a PvP battleground map that introduces a new way for players to test their skills against each other. The multi-stage Crucible of Flame dungeon challenges players with a series of epic, high-level battles culminating with a new boss fight against the immense Cyclops. This dungeon offers varying rewards based on performance. Additionally, more competitive players can take off in Champions’ Skyring, an all-new three-versus-three PvP battleground with some of TERA’s best PvP gear at stake.

“With TERA: Rising, we created a fresh, action-oriented play style that is centered around allowing players to take control of their actions on the battlefield,” said Chris Lee, CEO of En Masse Entertainment. “We feel the time has come to offer the same level of control in how they invest in the world of TERA, so we are offering a tiered approach that includes a compelling free option, to accessing the game.”

Standard players will have full access to TERA’s wealth of in-game content with two free characters per server. They are not subject to level caps and will experience no restrictions to content, time, or level. In recognition of their early adoption to the game, players who purchased TERA will gain founder benefits, including eight character slots, four bank tabs, a “Founder” title, the exclusive Terminus mount, and much more.

Available in 30-day increments for $14.99, elite status grants players extra dungeon rewards, 10 bonus quests per day, a daily delivery of items and boosts, an elite mount, in-game store discounts, waived brokerage registration taxes, and more. Elite players will find that their status pays for itself through free items and discounts, let alone in-game perks.

While non-elite players will not benefit from the same perks as their Elite counterparts, they will experience game content, character growth, holding political office, and other in-game determinations of status and power exactly the same way all players have since the game launched. They can also choose to buy most items available to elite status players on an a la carte basis from the in-game store or trade broker.

The recipient of multiple industry accolades, including “Best PC Game” and “Best MMO” at E3, TERA gives players the best of both worlds: MMO depth delivered with the visceral gratification of an action game. In TERA, players actively aim, dodge, and block, as the game’s real-time combat system takes into account player skill and position as well as stats. Players join in an alliance to save the world from ravaging armies who threaten to destroy the very gods who hold it together. Players can also participate in the game’s forward-thinking political system, through which they wield power based on their in-game political prowess or PvP combat skill.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 1.3 is Live Today

BioWare and LucasArts announced today that the latest free game update for the award-winning MMO, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, Game Update 1.3 – Allies, is available now. Alliesdelivers many of the game features the community has been asking for, including Group Finder, Ranked PvP Warzones, Adaptive Gear, new enhancements to the Legacy system and more.

“We are living up to our commitment in setting a new bar for what players should expect from a premium MMO service,” said Matthew Bromberg, General Manager of BioWare Austin. “In just six months, we have already released three major game updates that have added new content and game features that have addressed the feedback from our fans. And we are just getting started. By the end of this year, we are adding more Warzones, more Flashpoints, more Operations, more updates to the Legacy System, new companions, new storylines and more. We are very excited about the future.”

Game Update 1.3 – Allies includes the following new features:

• Group Finder – will make it much easier for players to join up with others in the game. This feature allows you to connect with other players who want to tackle the same Flashpoint or Operation that you do while also ensuring the group is filled out with combat disciplines that complement each other. Together you’ll be better prepared to take on the more advanced challenges in the game.

• Ranked Warzones – make PvP more challenging and more rewarding. You can now create a group, compete in ranked warzones, and then track your personal performance and measure your skills against other players.

• Legacy Character Perks perks give you the opportunity to customize the leveling experience for your Legacy characters. You can focus on the parts of the game you like best, whether that’s space combat, PvP,or Group Missions and Flashpoints, you can choose which activities earn the most experience. The perks give you other bonus opportunities as well, like piloting a vehicle at level 10, earning bonus affection with companions, and even being able to reallocate your skill points in the field.

• Adaptive Gear – allows you to wear your favorite social gear into combat while still enjoying the bonuses you receive from your best combat gear. We’ll almost certainly be seeing more eccentric-looking groups tackling high-level operations, but that’s part of the fun.

Star Wars: The Old Republic went live last December to critical acclaim around the world. Prior to today’s release of Allies, BioWare has already released two major free game updates. Game Update 1.1:Rise of the Rakghouls went live just one month after the launch of The Old Republicand introduced a new Flashpoint and the conclusion of the Karagga’s Palace Operation. Game Update 1.2: Legacy was one of the largest free content updates in the history of subscription MMOs, with a new Flashpoint, Operation, Warzone, new game features like the Legacy System and the game’s first live event, the “Rakghoul Outbreak.” Recently, BioWare has made character transfers available, seeing a huge engagement from the community as server populations become more balanced, improving the overall gameplay experience.

TERA offering a 7-Day Free Trial

En Masse Entertainment™, a player-driven publisher focused on delivering fun and innovative online games, celebrates the launch success of its award-winning action MMO, TERA™, by offering a free seven-day trial to new players. TERA sets a new standard for MMOs by delivering true action combat for players who want a more exciting, skill-based alternative to conventional online RPGs. Newly revealed game data shows that players are averaging more than four hours of play on a daily basis. Their enthusiasm makes this the perfect time to expand the game’s audience with a downloadable trial for new players to sample the game with no financial commitment.

“We are thrilled that the unique experience of TERA’s true action MMO gameplay is resonating so strongly with our players,” said Chris Lee, vice president of publishing at En Masse Entertainment. “Now we want to open up to new players curious about the game with a free one-week TERA trial, as we’re confident if you play, you will stay.”

Some facts and figures from the first weeks of play since TERA’s launch:

  • • Players have killed nearly 22 million (21,986,108 to be exact) of the game’s signature BAMs (big-ass monsters).
  • • TERA players have traveled a total distance of more than 227,328,053 miles in the game. That’s far enough to walk to Mars.
  • • Players stick around to savor their action experience, averaging nearly 4.5 hours daily per player. That’s more time than the average American spends watching TV each day.

The recipient of multiple industry honors and accolades, including “Best PC Game” and “Best MMO,” TERA is a new breed of online game. For the first time, players can get the best of both worlds: the depth of a traditional MMO combined with the visceral gratification of an action game. In TERA, players actively aim, dodge, and block, as the game’s real-time combat system takes into account player skill and position as well as stats. After creating a character, players will join in an alliance to save the world from ravaging armies who threaten to destroy the very gods who hold the world together. TERA also introduces a revolutionary political system in which players wield power in their province based on their in-game political prowess or player-versus-player combat skill.
