Out There: Ω The Alliance announced for Nintendo Switch, this strategic space adventure releases April 9th

From Press Release:

We love space and science fiction. Who doesn’t want to go boldly where no one has gone before in a galaxy far, far away? Well, maybe not if your space trip doesn’t go as planned and you wake up from cryogenic sleep in an unknown location. That’s what happens to the protagonist of Out There, an astronaut sent to Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter, in order to find resources that can rescue the exhausted Earth of the 22nd century. Thus begins a mysterious journey through hostile space with insidious intelligent aliens and ancient powers linked to the fate of mankind itself.

After playing the original Out There, we just had to bring this to Nintendo Switch. The combination of adventure, exploring the galaxy, and having to survive alone by upgrading your spaceship and managing your resources is the perfect recipe for a Switch game—playing at home in your captain’s chair (aka sofa) or on the go in a bus (or rocket ship; they say space tourism is becoming a thing), at your own pace through the turn-based system, allowing short bursts or an endless run until the sun rises in the morning.

For space explorers familiar with the game, there will be plenty of new content in the Switch version we’re calling Out There: Ω The Alliance. This content includes three new spaceships (one of them seems to be inspired by a famous space bounty hunter), more than 30 new interactive stories, new 3D planet environments, alien escort missions, new Cocoon tech, and an additional ending to discover.

Out There is created by French developer Mi-Clos Studio with the talented core team that consists of the creative director Michael Peiffert and game designer Fibre Tigre. Mixing Peiffert’s visual interpretation of space with Fibre Tigre’s narrative vision they shaped the foundation of the dark space strategy adventure. Complementing the pulp comic style graphics and providing a melancholic atmosphere is the eerie score by award-winning composer Siddhartha Barnhoorn (Antichamber, The Stanley Parable) featuring vocals by Lara Ausensi (Forest Kingdom II, Shevannai – The Voice of Elves). The game has been showered with accolades such as being listed as one of the Best Indie Games of 2014 by Grab It Magazine, won Best Game Design Award at Casual Connect 2014, plus selected to EGX Indie Games Arcade, PAX East Megabooth, and Gamescom Megabooth.

Out There: Ω The Alliance is scheduled for release April 9, 2019 on the Nintendo eShop, and on April 11, 2019 on the Humble Store in North America. There will also be a free demo to download on the Nintendo eShop shortly after launch.

We wanted to finish with a space pun but we need some more time to planet, so here’s some more cool features for the game:

  • A dark and challenging strategic adventure in deep space
  • Every game plays out differently within a procedurally-generated galaxy
  • Epic main storyline leading to any of 5 different endings
  • 13 spaceships with different specs to discover
  • Crafting system with alien technologies built from raw material found in space
  • Engage with alien life forms and learn their language
  • No combat! It’s just you against the harsh environment
  • Lovingly adapted from the original play style for the Nintendo Switch
