Fantastical machinery and the arcane fuse in major new expansion for popular epic 4X game bringing new realm, wizards, heroes, and more
A frightful new power has awakened in the wizarding world of Master of Magic. The brand-new Master of Magic: Rise of the Soultrapped expansion is available today coinciding with the Steam Strategy Fest. It brings forth the mystical new Techmagic realm and Soultrapped race, a host of new wizards, plus spells, heroes, and other fantastical content.
The future is tech
With Master of Magic: Rise of the Soultrapped, bulking machinery and steampunk-like technology intertwine with the marvels of the arcane. A new race, the Soultrapped, are the guardians of a formidable new stronghold that, once conquered, can provide a vast zone filled with precious resources. Three new playable Wizards, five new customizable Wizard traits, ten new spells, and four new Heroes, including personal events, can also be encountered in Master of Magic: Rise of the Soultrapped.
Rise of the Soultrapped
The new expansion features the spellbinding Soultrapped and their Techmagic realm. This new race is a captivating fusion of man and machine, with a range of new units, such as Engineers, Tech Priests, and special troops, including Soul Cannon and the Yeet, which summons the explosive Magbomb. And the Master of the Soultrapped is the Wizard commanding it all: Nineseven, the once-elven tech mage with powerful new abilities.
New Wizards and Heroes
Other new Wizards include Morique, whose mastery over Death and Chaos promises a dark and powerful magician. The veteran warlord Grendel possesses a deep connection with nature with critical magic resistance and regeneration skills. New Heroes are itching to join the fight, such as Moma and Ilde, the twin duo wielding the unique Sharp Exchange spell. Or the cheerful Billie the Gunslinger, a halfling youth with exceptional marksmanship skills. The gnoll hero, Oldmane Ironjaw, and the enigmatic dark elf Timur the Deadshot round out the Hero roster.
Quality of Life
With the expansion’s release, Master of Magic has also welcomed a host of quality-of-life improvements, from Steam Workshop and modding tool overhaul, as well as popularly requested features such as a Quick Load and Save option. Other gameplay modifications include unrest mechanic rewrite, hero recruitment, increasing the distance between towns to reduce city spam, Spellbook favorites, and Repeat Spell button, among other updates.
Grand wizarding beckons
Created by Polish studio MuHa Games and strategy publisher Slitherine, Master of Magic lets players command one of 14 extraordinary and diverse grand wizards who, locked in spell-flinging competition, aim to dominate the magical worlds of Arcanus and Myrror. They lead fantastic armies of otherworldly creatures, from orcs to elves and dragons, and use potent spells based on a complex system of magic schools, dark rituals, research, and unique items.
A new world of magic
The major magical-mechanical expansion follows the successful launch of the popular 4X fantasy game last December 2022, which has received substantial support ever since, including a free update, Through the Myrror, in March 2023. Master of Magic: Rise of the Soultrapped features a new realm, race, playable wizards, heroes, spells, units, traits, and much more.
