Against the Storm, the Early Access roguelite city builder receives “Sealed Forest Update” in improving the endgame

August 31, 2023 – Hooded Horse is pleased to announce that a major new feature for dark fantasy roguelite city builder Against the Storm is poised to unleash its evil on the game’s 600K+ fanbase. Eremite Games has been working hard on the recently introduced “Ancient Seals” system and is deploying a new unique biome, mechanics, and visual content in this week’s patch.

First introduced in the Cycles Reforged update back in June, the Ancient Seals represent a new north star for each run. As time has passed, the seals used by a past civilization to lock away ancient evils have weakened, unleashing plagues and other horrors on the land. Players can mount expeditions to find and fix these seals, banishing the evil once again.

The latest update introduces plenty of new content to flesh this out, with a dedicated “Sealed Forest” biome whenever the player tries to mount an expedition to repair a failing seal. This biome comes with unique features, challenges, and even a new Beacon Tower building only available through this biome that lets players summon aid from the Citadel.

There’s a lot involved in closing a seal – it needs to be located first, and then players need to collect all of the Ancient Guardian parts needed, not to mention fend off new plagues that will hamper progress on the world map and in the cities. More buildings have joined the roster to help players deal with the new challenges.
