Remedy details “The Road Ahead” with improvements for FBC: Firebreak, and a major update coming in September
From Press Release:
(Espoo, Finland – July 18, 2025) – Today Remedy Entertainment has announced the road ahead content and update plan for FBC: Firebreak, a three-player co-op FPS where the Federal Bureau of Control’s first-response unit must contain an escalating paranormal threat.
You can read the full post here, which details upcoming improvements based around community feedback collected since launch and the plan for the game’s first major update in late September. In the coming months the development team will be focusing on these key areas:
Understanding the game: Improving the onboarding process and playable tutorial level to help new players understand the game and its systems faster.
Upgraded Gunplay: Giving players more control over how weapons progress with a new gun mods system. Introducing three new (heavy) weapons and dropping all “generic” upgrades to start players with a playable and powerful version of everything a Firebreak needs from the beginning.
New Ways to Play: Major changes to the way players access Jobs and to the content of jobs themselves, giving more ways to play and a more surprising and exciting way of getting there.
New Job: This first major update will bring a brand-new Job into Firebreak, requiring players to identify and eliminate and hopefully not eat strains of mold using something that is internally called “the sushi train” … but more about that later. This will include a new handcrafted level, three Zones, a new status effect, two more enemies to deal with, and all the rest you would expect from a new Job.
The September major update marks the beginning of a longer-term plan to expand and refine FBC: Firebreak. More information will be shared closer to its release.
About FBC: Firebreak
FBC: Firebreak is a session-based, multiplayer PvE experience set within the acclaimed Control universe, delivering intense cooperative action. The game features highly replayable missions known as Jobs, each uniquely designed with different challenges, objectives, and environments that require teamwork and adaptability.
Remedy will continue expanding FBC: Firebreak with post-launch content. All future playable content, including new Jobs, will be free. Players will have the option to purchase cosmetics, but none of these items will affect gameplay, and there will be no limited-time rotations or daily log-ins.
