Warsaw, Poland – November 5th, 2025 – Ahead of its upcoming release date reveal, publisher 11 bit studios released today a brand-new showcase trailer for Death Howl, the stunning soulslike deck-builder from Copenhagen-based developer, The Outer Zone. The trailer dives deeper into the grim, sorrowful journey of Ro—a grieving mother braving the realm of spirits, in a desperate attempt to defy death itself. Check it out below for a closer look at the game’s rich gameplay and multilayered mechanics. Death Howl is currently in development for Windows PC and will be available in both the Steam and GOG storefronts later this year. A release date announcement is scheduled for the coming weeks.
In the newly released showcase trailer, Ro takes on a side quest to aid a suffering fish spirit. Along the way, players get a closer look at the game’s soulslike structure, grid-based combat mechanics, environmental tactics, card crafting, skill upgrades, and the significance of spirit cards and totems.
Developed by a three-person indie team based in Copenhagen, Death Howl blends distinct genres, multilayered mechanics, a distinctive visual style, and a deeply involved narrative. At its heart lies the story of Ro—a grieving mother who dares to confront mighty spirits in a desperate attempt to bring her son back to life.
Death Howl will invite players into its hauntingly beautiful world later this year on Windows PC. Game development was supported by the Danish Film Institute’s program The Games Scheme.
