Gray Zone Warfare transitions to Unreal Engine 5.5 and new patch 0.3.5.0 – both now live

From Press Release:
Brno, Czech Republic, November 6, 2025 – Following the two major content updates, Night Ops and Winds of War, Gray Zone Warfare now reaches a new stage in its evolution. The latest version of the Unreal Engine, which utilizes parallel rendering, has increased the performance of mid-range processors, reduced RAM and VRAM usage, and minimized game stuttering. Thanks to the ability to leverage the latest features of future Unreal Engine versions, improvements have been implemented in the game, enabling greater stability and performance, with a particular focus on sandbox games.
“Upgrading to Unreal Engine 5.5 allowed us to greatly improve performance on weaker hardware and heavy in-game locations, doubling performance on an Intel i7-8700,” says Johanny Clerc-Renaud, MADFINGER Games CTO. “Version 0.3.5.0 delivers four months of daily fixes and optimizations from the Gray Zone Warfare programming team, eliminating many shader compilation stutters, reducing remaining hitches, and continuing work with Epic and NVIDIA to resolve GPU crashes,” adds Clerc-Renaud.
The new Patch 0.3.5.0, developed in Unreal Engine 5.5, introduces numerous improvements. Weapon sway has been adjusted to better respond to player movement, and recoil behavior has been refined to feel more realistic.
Moreover, aiming behavior powered by artificial intelligence has been balanced. The updated system simulates human-like aiming patterns that dynamically change in response to AI difficulty, combat situation, injury, suppression, weather conditions, distance to the target, and weapon type.
Key changes and fixes requested by the Gray Zone Warfare community include improved balance in key drop rates, enhanced sound design, enhanced nighttime lighting, and improved scope visibility under specific weather conditions that previously caused the image to appear too dark.
Another new feature is the addition of Chinese servers, which enhances connectivity and reduces latency for players in mainland China.
Patch 0.3.5.0 also delivers a wide range of smaller yet important fixes and adjustments. For example, upon death, the player’s camera now rotates roughly in the direction from which the fatal shot was fired. Players can also now choose whether to reconnect to their original or a new server. With this update, Gray Zone Warfare offers a noticeably more stable experience and greater freedom of play.
