Songs of Conquest, the turn-based strategy HoMM-like will receive its second DLC later this year with Roots

From Press Release:
Gothenburg, Sweden, February 17th 2025 — Today, Coffee Stain Publishing and Lavapotion are thrilled to share more details on Roots, the second-ever DLC for their hit turn-based strategy Songs of Conquest!
Planned for release this Summer, the new DLC takes players deep into the dense and ominous Wyldwood of the Bleak East, where not even the strongest warriors makes it out alive. Led by the enigmatic Tree Mothers, the Roots are a cognisant colony of plants and fungi that have one shared goal – survival. These sentient beings repurpose the corpses of fallen foes, creating nightmarish amalgamations of flesh and bone that work to further their cause and tear apart those that stand in their way.
Unlike other factions, the Roots share a collective consciousness, making them an unstoppable force of nature rivalling even the strongest of foes on the battlefield. As they seek to expand their domain, spreading out and beyond the confines of the Wyldwood, no-one is safe…
Players will discover the fungal lore of this bewildering faction through two story-driven challenge maps, and see Roots in action across five dedicated conquest maps. The DLC will also introduce an entire new swamp-infested biome, alongside new buildings, artifact sets, Wielders, troops, essence mechanics, and more.
Originally launched into 1.0 on PC in May 2024, Songs of Conquest is a synthesis of turn-based strategy gameplay, fantasy kingdom management, and vibrant pixel graphics. The game has sold over 600,000 copies since its original release, arriving on PlayStation and Xbox consoles in November 2024. The first DLC for the game, titled Vanir, launched in December 2024 to very positive reviews on Steam.
“Can you be-leaf it? The second DLC for Songs of Conquest is almost here!” said Carl Toftfelt, Lead Game Designer at Lavapotion. “We’re working hard to finalise Roots in time for the Summer here at Lavapotion, and we can’t wait to show off all the new units and mechanics soon. We love introducing new ways to play the game and Roots does just that, disrupting existing strategies and creating new ways to think about the gameplay that we hope fans will love.”
The Roots DLC for Songs of Conquest is available to wishlist now on PC via Steam. Further details on the Roots DLC can also be found in a dedicated Steam post here.
