Turn-based strategy HoMM-like Songs of Conquest reveals new Yulan faction DLC

From Press Release:

Gothenburg, Sweden, January 30th 2026 – Swedish development studio Lavapotion is proud to officially reveal Yulan, the next Faction DLC coming to Songs of Conquest in June. With Vanir and Roots before it, Yulan becomes the third full faction release for Songs of Conquest.

A Land Divided

Yulan marks the next full faction DLC, bringing new environments, troops, wielders and buildings to the world of Aerbor. Yulan is a land of beauty and conflict, shaped by the rivalries of its three great houses: Li, Sheng, and Xuan. From enchanted forests to hidden ruins, beasts roam the lands, farmers toil in the fields, and Seekers delve deep into the secrets of Essence.

The Tale of Yulan

At the heart of the Yulan DLC is a brand new Tale that spans three maps and tells an epic story of reunion and survival. Players will follow the House of Sheng and their Wielders as Yulan comes back into contact with the wider world of Aerbor; as old conflicts give way to far more dangerous truths.

House Allegiances and New Forces

The Yulan expansion introduces eight new troop units, many with multiple upgrade paths reflecting the houses they serve. Players can pledge their allegiance to Li (Order), Sheng (Creation), or Xuan (Arcana). This choice shapes not only the Essence they command, but also the abilities, stats, and roles of their units on the battlefield.

Among the new forces joining are:

  • Conscripts, basic infantry fighting beneath the banners of their chosen house
  • Grenadiers, soldiers wielding clay bombs while bolstering army morale with house drums
  • Tian, dragon-like creatures loyal to their human masters
  • Yi, master archers empowered by the Essence of their house
  • Seekers, scholars of Essence who risk transformation into fearsome Transcendents

Should the houses require even greater strength, mercenary Riders, their fox-like Hu companions, and the legendary Feng may answer the call.

New Maps and a Living Biome

The Yulan DLC also introduces five new Conquest maps, designed to highlight the faction’s strengths and the region’s unique terrain. From house conflicts to invasions of Arleon and the defense of Yulan’s homelands, each map provides a new challenge.

Accompanying these maps is a brand-new biome that consists of forests, vast plains, ancient ruins, and lurking dangers. Full of mystery and atmosphere, Yulan’s landscapes invite exploration and discovery.

“Yulan is a faction we’ve wanted to add to the game since before its release and I’m just beyond excited to get this faction into the hands of our players.” says Lead Game Designer Carl Toftfelt.

The Yulan DLC is scheduled to release in June, and is available to wishlist now on Steam. You can find the official press kit assets here, and more information on the official Songs of Conquest website and by following the game on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
