One of the standout WWII strategy and management titles, Ground of Aces continues to grow through close collaboration with its community. Players are drawn to its distinctive mix of freeform base-building, aircraft management, and authentic aviation history, all presented in an art style inspired by Franco-Belgian comic classics such as Biggles, Buck Danny, and Tintin.
What’s New in the Maps & Liveries Update
The update introduces major new systems that expand player freedom, personalization, and replayability:
Aircraft Liveries: Players can now customize their fleet with a wide variety of liveries. Most liveries unlock naturally through gameplay and achievement-style assignments, while others can be redeemed through special promotional codes. Up to 60 skins can be collected.
New Royal Air Force Map: A new starter map based on the historic Royal Air Force station Debden is now available. Featuring a pre-built runway, parking spots, and structures, RAF Debden allows players to jump into the action faster than ever before.
Map Editor: The new map editor lets players create and play their own starter maps. Customize terrain, place environmental assets, and freely set up buildings and hangars, all without worrying about resources or construction times.
New Defensive Structures and Weapons: The update also expands airbase defenses with new buildable options with the Oerlikon 20 mm Cannon and the Predictor Lookout Post which lets you assign personnel to extend AA gun range and improve defensive readiness.
De Havilland Mosquito – Available now via free DLC: The highly requested De Havilland Mosquito joins Ground of Aces as the first aircraft in the newly released Wings of Valor DLC. Players can unlock it simply by adding the free DLC to their Steam library.
Together, these features give players more agency over how they prepare, defend, and grow their airbases.
A Major Creative Step Forward
“This update is all about player expression,” says Executive Producer Moritz Zumbühl. “With liveries and the map editor, we’re giving our players more tools than ever to shape their own airbases and tell their own WWII stories. It’s one of our biggest milestones since the Early Access launch.”
