Inspired by classic JRPGs, Screamer throws players into an illegal street-racing tournament orchestrated by the enigmatic Mr. A. Five teams of fearless drivers are called to settle their rivalries in no-holds-barred showdowns across a dystopian universe rich in anime aesthetics and futuristic vibes. Themes of human will, revenge, love and greed unfold through cinematic cutscenes produced in collaboration with Polygon Pictures, one of Japan’s most renowned animation studios, revealing each team’s motives, histories, and secrets. An international voice cast, including acclaimed actors such as Troy Baker and Aleks Le, further elevates the cinematic experience.

The game’s narrative framework also drives its gameplay, built around the Echo System, a special technology installed on every vehicle that fuels both racing and fighting through two meter-based resources: Sync and Entropy. Sync can be used to Boost and Shield, while Entropy powers two offensive actions, Strike and Overdrive. On top of this, Screamer’s innovative Dual Stick system, which separates steering and drifting, brings precision and control to a whole new level, giving players a precise and satisfying tool to tackle corners and stay ahead of the pack. The result is a racing experience that’s not just about pure speed, but about reading the moment, managing resources and striking at the right time.

Leaning into fighting games influences, each character has unique special skills that set them apart from the rest of the roster, as well as dedicated soundtracks. These abilities are closely tied to the evolution of each team’s story and will allow everyone to find the character that best fits their playstyle. Importantly, the choice might also vary depending on the event to be played.

Beyond career mode, 32 tracks across four original environments set the stage for a variety of game modes, all available from the very start without any unlock requirements. Whether competing solo or as part of a team, players will discover a wide range of experiences that fully leverage Screamer’s unique mix. Team Races put speed and strategy to the test, rewarding cooperation and tactical play, while Overdrive Challenge throws Screamers into high-risk, high-reward races at maximum performance. Score Challenge emphasizes skillful play, chaining actions and stunts to maximize points and climb the leaderboard, while classic arcade modes like Time Attack and Checkpoint complete the package, pushing precision and timing to the limit.

Multiplayer options are equally wide, from Ranked Team Races and Private Lobbies to Mixtape playlists and four-player split-screen chaos. Across all modes, Screamer rewards players with new cosmetic items to customize each car, as well as cutscenes, artworks, and other additional content to enrich the experience.

Bringing to today’s consoles the raw, pick-up-and-play thrill of classic arcade racing combined with innovative gameplay and a cinematic story, Screamer is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
