May 14th, 2026 – To celebrate the anniversary of METRO: Last Light original launch, we’ve partnered up with 4A Games to bring the original versions of METRO 2033 and METRO: Last Light Complete Edition to GOG, as part of the GOG Preservation Program – ensuring these beloved classics remain accessible and fully playable for years to come.
Thanks to the collaboration with the incredible teams at DEEP SILVER and 4A Games, players can now once again experience the atmospheric beginnings of the series, carefully updated to run smoothly on modern PCs while preserving the original vision fans remember!
As part of the GOG Preservation Program, both titles have been enhanced to ensure the best possible experience on current hardware without compromising their original identity. You can expect:
- Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Support for modern controllers, including Sony DualSense / DualShock 4, Microsoft Xbox Series / Xbox One / Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch 2 Pro / Switch Pro, Logitech F, and Amazon Luna controllers
- Improved controller hotplugging and wireless mode support
- Increased maximum supported resolutions
- A new high-resolution framerate limiter
- Implemented vertical synchronization for a smoother, tear-free experience
- Optimized default game settings for modern systems
The GOG Preservation Program is dedicated to keeping gaming history alive by maintaining and updating classic titles so they remain playable on current and future hardware. Every game included in the program receives ongoing compatibility support, platform care, and technical improvements – all while staying DRM-free.
From the haunting isolation of METRO 2033 to the desperate conflict and survival of METRO: Last Light Complete Edition, these adventures helped shape one of gaming’s most immersive post-apocalyptic universes. Now, both experiences are once again available for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
