The first-ever Tactical Extraction Looter is getting ready to leave Early Access after 12 months of updates and countless improvements based on feedback from the thousands of players who have already purchased and deeply enjoyed the game. Already in its current state, Nightmare Frontier offers a complete and fully playable experience, putting players in command of a team of heroes fighting to free their city from the Dreadweavers, monstrous creatures that feed on the deepest fears of every human being.
Today, developer Ice Code Games (the studio behind the critically acclaimed Hard West II) and publisher Slitherine, which acquired publishing rights for the title last December, are delivering the biggest update in the game’s history.
Nightmare Frontier introduces a brand-new and terrifying Fear: Deadwood, a relentless, sprawling entity that blurs the line between forest and nightmare. It thrives on stillness, so keep moving, or risk becoming part of the scenery.
The update also introduces a major new gameplay mechanic: during the game’s fast-paced and chaotic battles, players can now rely on a new bullet ricochet system, allowing them to make their shots even deadlier and more precise.
The update also expands Nightmare Frontier’s global reach with new Czech, Hungarian, Ukrainian, and Turkish localizations, adding to an already impressive lineup of supported languages including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Chinese, Russian, and Italian.
What is Nightmare Frontier
In 2025 Slitherine became the publisher of Nightmare Frontier, currently in Early Access and developed by Ice Code Games. Nightmare Frontier is a tactical Extraction Looter where players will pit their courage and leadership against fears made manifest: the Dreadweavers. Leading a band of scavenger roughnecks into a devastated boom town of the alternative 1900s, they’ll have to face the monsters, grab what they can carry and get out alive.
