From Press Release:
June 9, 2026 – Melbourne, Australia – Australia-based developer Parasol Corp is delighted to announce that Cozy Game Restoration will launch on Steam on September 24, 2026. The release date was revealed during Frosty Games Fest alongside a new release date trailer, giving players a fresh look at the game’s nostalgic atmosphere and satisfying cartridge-cleaning mechanics. The first public demo is now live and will officially participate in the June Steam Next Fest, offering players their first hands-on experience with the highly anticipated restoration simulator ahead of launch.
Already one of Steam’s most anticipated cozy titles, Cozy Game Restoration has amassed more than 225,000 wishlists, earning a place among Steam’s most wishlisted upcoming games.
Cozy Game Restoration is a soothing restoration simulator about bringing forgotten video game cartridges back to life. Players will carefully unwrap mystery parcels, peel away tape and old stickers, clean dust and grime, remove ink and adhesive residue, and transform battered retro games into cherished collectibles. There are no timers and no fail states, just the quiet satisfaction of restoring something that matters.
Each cartridge is procedurally dirtied, with randomized conditions, visuals, and imperfections that make every restoration feel different. Some cartridges may have cracked shells or clean labels, while others are scuffed, drawn on, discolored, or covered in stubborn residue. As players restore their finds, they’ll work toward completing a retro game collection featuring 108 distinct titles inspired by classics from the 1980s to early 2000s.
Cozy Game Restoration will also celebrate the wider Australia, New Zealand, and global indie scene through collectible cartridges inspired by real games from around the world. Among them, Deep Field Games has given permission for Abiotic Factor to appear as a collectible cartridge that players can discover and restore. Additional indie game collaborations will be revealed closer to launch.
“Cozy Game Restoration is a love letter to the games that were with us growing up and the moments we experienced around them with friends and family,” said Adam Stormhardt, Founder. “It’s wonderful to know so many people resonate with restoring and collecting battered old retro games, and I’m excited to finally be able to point to a date on the calendar when it’ll be ready. Being able to feature games from fellow Australian and New Zealand developers as collectible cartridges makes the project even more special.”
Beyond individual restorations, players will complete collection-based quests, hunt for rare variants, and decorate their collection room with rewards earned through play. Whether peeling a stubborn sticker, opening a mystery parcel, or finding a rare gem for the shelf, Cozy Game Restoration is built around the tactile, nostalgic joy of caring for games from another era.
