From Press Release:
Vienna, Austria – Sept. 1, 2026 – Independent developer Moon Studios has announced that the 1.0 release for No Rest for the Wicked, the highly anticipated soulslike action-roleplaying game, is being delayed to March 2027 for PC and PlayStation®5 and will not launch in October 2026 as previously announced. Release date details for the XBOX Series X|S and Nintendo Switch™ 2 system versions are to be determined. Moon Studios revealed the news first in a post directly to its community, sharing additional details about what the extra time will afford the development team in terms of polish and the litany of enhancements expected in the 1.0 version. No Rest for the Wicked is currently available to buy on PC via Steam Early Access.
The added development time will allow the team at Moon to improve gameplay performance, tighten the class system and polish the game to the standard it deserves. As an added make-good, the team plans to hold additional closed beta tests in the months ahead followed by an open beta in December, allowing the community to provide feedback during a crucial stretch of development. Follow the game’s social channels for additional info on those betas in the near future. Creative Director Thomas Mahler provided further insights in a new community video available on YouTube.
As part of Moon Studios’ continued commitment to working directly with its player community, the team plans to provide further updates in part via the ongoing Wicked Inside video developer diaries, available on the Moon Studios YouTube channel. These longer, more intimate looks at No Rest for the Wicked allow the team to share more details and nuances at the time and in the format that is most relevant to the game’s progress. Moon will continue to go behind the scenes regarding their thoughts behind design decisions, content updates and how hurdles are being addressed in an effort to demonstrate the transparency and expertise that has kept No Rest at the forefront of the ARPG community.
Previously, Moon Studios also shared that early buyers would receive the Founders Pack, a special set of in-game items as thanks for their incredible support. The original cutoff date for purchasing the game and earning that Founders Pack was July 10. That cutoff date has now been moved to January 1, 2027 for PC players, with anyone who purchased after July 10 retroactively included. PlayStation®5 pre-orders will begin in January, allowing those players to earn the Founders Pack then.
The Founders Pack includes:
- A New Secret Hideout: Spirit Cavern – The legacy of Moon Studios now lives inside No Rest for the Wicked. A hand-crafted home that bridges both worlds.
- Sayer’s Vow: An all new Sword in the stone that only early adopters can extract in the game world.
- A Custom Founders Tag ensures players are clearly identified as early adopters.
- As a Founder member, players will get access to an exclusive Public Beta Test Realm reserved just for them, even after the 1.0 game launch.
No Rest for the Wicked is the highly celebrated action-RPG from Moon Studios, the same team behind the critically acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The game is an enticing blend of dark storytelling, painterly visuals and best-in-class soulslike combat and RPG design. Players take on the role of a “Cerim,” a member of a holy order imbued with mysterious powers, tasked with destroying the Pestilence, an ancient plague that has begun to consume the island Isola Sacra, itself already the site of great political upheaval and death. Players can collect and craft weapons, items and more to turn the tide of each battle, upgrade their character and personal homestead and play their part in an epic tale of bloodshed and bravery. Since its launch in Early Access, No Rest for the Wicked has been supported with multiple major updates, including co-op multiplayer, PvP duels, and expanded combat possibilities.
