Battlefield 1943 & BC2: Onslaught (PC) officially cancelled

It’s a sad day for Battlefield fans wondering where 1943 and Onslaught mode for Bad Company 2 is.

Battlefield 1943 was the remake of Battlefield 1942 on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. There had been rumors of a PC release, then months later Battlefield Bad Company 2 released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. In December, a multiplayer expansion Vietnam was released for 360, PS3, and PC which led to more rumors about an impending release of 1943 for PC.

Bad Company 2’s Onslaught mode has been available as downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PS3 since June 24th, 2010. DICE had announced that Onslaught mode was coming out for PC eventually, but had to get past the hurdles of the PC’s dedicated servers.

However, neither add-on is in production any more says Global Community Manager Magnus aka Zh1nt0. Resources in those projects have now shifted focus for Battlefield 3 where details will be released at GDC ’11 in March.
