14 December 2023, Wroclaw Poland | Forever Skies, the high-tech airship-themed, sci-fi survival adventure is adding one more update to the game as the year comes to an end. The new mini-update adds a timed, festive-themed quest and permanent airship deco rewards.
Highlights of the update include:
- Timed festive-themed quest
- Festive-themed item rewards
- New asked-for items by the community such as large freezer, new airship decor items etc
- Ability to add decor items to the outside of the airship
- Snow and blizzard weather
- New location
These additions come on top of a massive round of bug and QOL fixes alongside various rebalancing of certain systems. The “Frozen Wishes Update” launches publicly on Steam on Thursday, December 14th along with a 20% discount. The timed quest is set to last until January 7th, 2024.
Whale and Dolphin Conservation Partnership
Far From Home also recently furthered its partnership with the UK-based charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) to create a one-off piece of Steam DLC where 100% of net revenue goes to the organization to help them continue their vital marine mammal conservation efforts around the globe.
An elegant and sleek holographic globe item that depicts two dolphins swimming through eternity can be printed by players in-game to decorate their airship. The item lets players change the colors of the holograph and can be printed multiple times. The DLC can be purchased on Steam for 2.59 GBP / 2.99 EUR / 2.99 USD.
The team emphasized that this is a one-off initiative for charity and that no other DLC would be made for the game while it is still in Early Access. Far From Home plans to expand the game with additional free content including coop and story chapters.
On top of this ongoing effort, Forever Skies also helped put together a charity stream with the UK streaming collective Worst Premade Ever as part of the December Jingle Jam event. The steam managed to raise an additional 5000 GPB / 5800 EUR / 6300 USD for WDC during its 4-hour duration.
