Go “Into the Blue” with new biome and mission types in Update 04 for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

From Press Release:

AARHUS, DENMARK October 28th, 2024 – Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, the survivor-like spin-off game developed by Funday Games and published by Ghost Ship Publishing, is turning things up to eleven with its latest update titled ‘Into the Blue’. The update introduces a new alien biome, an array of new enemies and artifacts, but most importantly Mutators, specific conditions that players can apply to their dives for extra challenge.

New Biome – Azure Weald

Azure Weald is a brand-new biome that radiates calm, if you don’t count the swarms of bugs scaling the walls of the cave to hunt you down. The blue palette creates an ethereal atmosphere, and dwarves can seek shelter in the shadow of the mysterious crystals scattered throughout the cave that will slowly heal them.

Another unique feature of this new biome are the membranes on the ground that players can use to launch themselves into the air and over obstacles, offering more manoeuvrability than seen in other biomes in Survivor.

Azure Weald isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, though. Two new enemies lurk in its luminescent corners, namely the Glyphid Warden that provides damage resistance to its fellow bugs when stationary, and the Glyphid Mini Exploders, faster and more nimble cousins of the traditional exploders that are sure to keep dwarves on their toes.

New Mission Types & Modifiers – Lethal Ops, Vanguard Contracts and Mutators

The second major addition coming with the Into the Blue update are the aforementioned Mutators. These new modifiers will be available to players later in the game in the form of new affixes that are both positive and negative, offering choice and challenge as players dive deep into Hoxxes IV.

These mutators come into play in two new modes being introduced to Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, namely Vanguard Contracts and Lethal Operations. Vanguard Contracts rotate daily and offer unique combinations of modifiers designed to challenge players and explore new builds as they seek to complete their daily dives. Lethal Operations on the other hand were designed to challenge and unite players as they attempt to solve what build works best each week – Management will also be assigning Employee Review Score at the end of each run to promote workplace morale!

For example, a single Lethal Operation can feature increased mining speed, but enemy units have more health and deal more damage. Alternatively, dwarves will start a dive with one of the more powerful weapons right off the bat, but shop prices are increased and something haunts the caverns,or the cavern is filled with toxic fumes. Vanguard Contracts and Lethal Operations offer new ways to enjoy Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, whether it’s solving a complex puzzle or living out a Dr. Freeze fantasy.

…and More!

On top of a new biome, two new game modes and mutators, today’s update also includes five new artifacts that players can acquire, from the community favorite Jet Boots to a Tactical Cookie or the tasty Huuli Bait. Wait, don’t eat tha-
