Germany – December 13, 2024 – It’s been exactly one year since the medieval-fantasy city builder Pioneers of Pagonia from award-winning developer studio Envision Entertainment was released in Early Access on Steam and took the hearts of strategy gamers by storm. To celebrate the anniversary, today’s mini update brings a wintery flair to Pioneers of Pagonia. For all new pioneers, the first official guidebook in the Builder’s Edition is now available on Steam.
In the brand-new anniversary trailer, the independent studio led by Creative Director and original creator of The Settlers, Volker Wertich, gives a comprehensive look back and a look ahead to the year 2025:
In addition to more than 150 quality-of-life updates with many improvements to the game mechanics, controls, player onboarding and aesthetic enhancements, four extensive content updates were added over the course of 2024. The Economy Update with new buildings and units in the first quarter was followed by the Shared Co-op Update in April, allowing players to wusel around with family and friends. The Mining Update in June brought new depth to the game with the iconic geologist and the expanding Scavs. The Magic Update, the last and biggest content update so far this year, was just released in November with new magical units, enemies and resources, as well as an overhaul of the combat system. Well-known influencers and content creators including Sodapoppin, Ovilee May, Gronkh, Hand of Blood, and Maurice Weber lent their voices to key units in Pioneers of Pagonia.
The team also has big plans for 2025. In addition to continuous quality of life improvements, the story campaign, which has been requested by the community many times, has been confirmed for the 1.0 release, with the story being written by an established fantasy book author. In addition to new map challenges, extensive modding support will also be integrated. The next roadmap update will be announced in Q2 2025.
With a significant amount of content added by Envision Entertainment during Early Access, the retail price of Pioneers of Pagonia will be increased in spring 2025.
