From Press Release:
July 30, 2025 – The modular spaceship-building strategy game Cosmoteer just got its biggest and boldest update yet. The long-awaited Meltdown Update is now live, introducing game-changing new mechanics that crank up the heat—literally! Plus, it’s 30% off (Daily Deal starts at 7 pm CET / 10 am PT on Wednesday). It’s the deepest discount so far!
Developed by Walt and a small, dedicated team, Cosmoteer has grown from a solo project into a tactically rich sandbox beloved by its passionate community. Players design custom ships, manage crews, and command real-time space battles in an expansive universe.
Now, the Meltdown Update adds a whole new layer of engineering and risk-reward gameplay. At its core is a brand-new heat and overclocking system (plus two powerful new weapons!) that lets players push their ships’ systems beyond normal limits—at a cost. Boost your weapons, shields, and generators into Overclock Mode to gain devastating power, but beware: without proper heat management, you’ll overheat, catch fire, or even explode!
This update also introduces new ship parts, weapons, and heat management systems to support this thrilling new mechanic.
Meltdown Update – Key Features:
Heat & Overclocking – Push ship systems beyond their limits for faster damage and stronger defense, but manage the heat or face the consequences.
Thermal Resonance Beam – A powerful new weapon that wreaks havoc on enemies but also builds heat on your own ship.
New Heat Management Parts – Including Radiators, Heat Pipes, Thermal Batteries, and more.
Thermal Canister Missile – Convert excess heat into explosive energy and launch it at your enemies.
Expanded Tactical Options – Build smarter, fight harder, and design ships with a deeper layer of mechanical and strategic nuance.

Whether you’re a shipbuilding genius or a tactical mastermind, the Meltdown Update brings explosive new potential to every battle. It’s available now—fire it up and see how hot you can go!

Behind the game is Walt and a small, dedicated team who have been lovingly building Cosmoteer since its early days in 2011. What began as a solo passion project has grown into a team effort, driven by the same care and commitment that built a passionate community and a game that’s both wildly fun and tactically rich.
