GOG becomes the digital home of Poland’s first national video games celebration

From Press Release:

July 29, 2026 – We’re happy to announce our involvement in the inaugural Video Games From Poland that will take place this October, as a national celebration of Polish video games. The event is organized and coordinated by the Creative Industries Institute, a state cultural institution supervised by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. It’s the first time anywhere in the world that a country celebrates its own games industry at state level!

During the event, our platform will turn into a showcase of Polish game development, open to players everywhere:

  • A curated selection of cult Polish games at promotional prices, from the classics that built the country’s reputation in gaming, to more recent hits.
  • Playable demos of upcoming Polish games, so players can try and see for themselves what studios are working on right now, before the release.

The Creative Industries Institute organizes the in-person events across the country. Everything digital has its home on our platform, built in Poland, which means players anywhere in the world can take part. Exact dates, the full line-up and further details will be announced closer to the event.

Polish games are the part of the country’s culture that travels furthest. According to the 2025 report by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, 824 studios operate in Poland, employing 14,568 specialists. 97% of the games made here are sold abroad, and in 2024 the industry brought in PLN 5.52 billion. These games reach millions of players worldwide, and for a lot of them a Polish game is the first door into Polish culture.

Video game days observed elsewhere in the world are grassroots or commercial in origin. Poland is the first country where a public institution takes on the job of celebrating the games made here.

Keeping games available and putting them in front of players is what we do every day, so hosting the first national celebration of Polish games feels like a natural fit. Full credit to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Indie Games Poland and the Creative Industries Institute for making it happen.

The first edition sets out to show people who do not follow games closely how varied Polish productions are, and that beyond entertainment they can carry culture and values. The programme involves the largest Polish studios and organizations working around the Polish games industry, from planning through to delivery.
