Copenhagen, Denmark / Vienna, Austria – September 30th, 2026: Every Ronin knows that a sword is only as good as the friends standing next to it – and now there’s room for two more! Early Access Update 1 for Expeditions: Samurai is out now, raising the maximum party size from four to six on most missions, and gives your companions a voice in dialogues. A ship full of other changes sails along, shaped heavily by player feedback – the update comes with 10 standard pages of patch notes. The development team at Campfire Cabal also hopped in front of the camera again and explains, how the player feedback has influenced their work and talk about some of the recent changes of Update #1.
What’s in Update #1?
Bigger Parties
- Ten levels, including Nagasaki Harbour, Kanseido Village and the Derelict Carrack, now support a party of six, and enemy numbers have grown to match.
- Your characters can now carry barrels, so any gunpowder barrel you find can be placed right in the path of a patrolling guard with bombastic results.
- Companions can now handle most dialogue skill checks for you in a conversation. So it’s finally worth spending skill points in Insight, Persuasion, Manipulation or Authority.
Smarter Enemies
- Enemies on high alert fan out after clearing the area and enter more aggressive patrols, or group up at tactical chokepoints. Anyone who witnesses a takedown goes straight to combat.
- New heads and hairstyles in character creation, a new “Ronin” outfit, 5 unique items and 16 new armor and weapon variations add plenty of fresh gear.
- A reworked intro cinematic, a trade-value display for merchants and a UI rendering overhaul that runs over 50% faster round things off.
