From Press Release:
October 15, 2026 – Developer Orsoniks and publisher Oro Interactive are glad to announce that Casualties: Unknown launches on Steam on November 9th.
Since its release earlier this April, the demo has ranked among Steam’s top 10 most played demos daily. Over 500,000 demo players have attempted a descent, with the game now sitting at 360,000 wishlists.
Sent Down Against Your Will
Casualties: Unknown is a 2D cave-exploration survival simulator set beneath the surface of a hostile alien planet. Your captors want their lost cargo back, and they’ve sent you down to retrieve it. You’re not the first. You’re one of thousands of test subjects sent into the dark, and none of them made it back up. The only way forward is down, through layers of cave that grow stranger and less forgiving the deeper you go.
Down there, your own body is your largest concern. Your limbs, your blood and your heart are all simulated, forcing players to juggle multiple systems at once. A deep cut keeps bleeding until you bandage it. A wound left dirty turns infected. Lose enough blood and you black out, alone, next to the bodies of the last ones who journeyed downwards. The plants growing in the caves can help you patch yourself up, and whatever you scavenge can be crafted into tools that improve your odds in the next layer.
Your mind is just as fragile. Your character reacts to everything that happens to them, and as fear and despair set in, holding it together gets harder. Push it far enough, and the darkest way out starts to look like the only one.
The expeditions before yours left things behind in locked containers, abandoned pods and hidden caches. Some of what’s inside will keep you alive. Tread carefully, though. Abandoned machinery and hidden mines can kill you before you even see them.
Deeper Than Before
The demo covered the first 5 layers, just a glimpse of how deep the caves go. The full game doubles the descent and adds multiple endings, so how it ends depends on how far down you’re willing to go.
Players will be able to choose between 3 playable characters, each with their own stats, their own strange gimmicks, and their own way of surviving the depths. And when the caves take an arm or a leg, the descent doesn’t have to end there. Prostheses come in 3 tiers, with the highest being a direct upgrade over the flesh and bone it replaces.
What players can expect in Casualties: Unknown:
- A fully simulated limb and cardiovascular damage system
- 10 main layers, a shorter 11th layer, and an optional bonus ending
- 3 playable characters with their own stats and playstyles
- 3 tiers of prostheses to replace lost limbs
- Crafting, character traits, and 300+ items to find
- Adjustable loot and danger settings
The Rest of the Way Down Opens November 9th
Casualties: Unknown launches on Steam on November 9th for 22.99 USD / EUR, with a 15% launch discount. Half a million players have already seen the first 5 layers. On November 9th, the rest of the caves open up, along with whatever has been waiting at the bottom. Wishlist the game on Steam to get notified when it launches!
