Skövde, Sweden. May 28th, 2025 — Today, Coffee Stain Publishing and Box Dragon are excited to launch their deckbuilding roguelike As We Descend into Early Access. The latest IP from the publisher behind Valheim and Deep Rock Galactic, As We Descend is available now for players who fancy their chances defending the last safe civilisation against the tides of decay.
As We Descend is the debut game from Box Dragon, an indie studio helmed by industry veterans from the likes of Stunlock Studios and Riot Games. Set in a grim future where resources are scarce and monsters threaten humanity’s very existence, As We Descend thrusts players into a decaying world where they must embark on dangerous expeditions to secure the future of a dystopian city descending into the earth.
The game takes a strategic twist on the roguelike genre, challenging players to:
- Recruit expedition forces, navigate political treachery, enlist allies across the last safe city, and outsmart incomprehensible foes.
- Command units in card-based, turn-based battles, in order to defend civilization, and return home with powerful rewards.
- Build relationships with key figures in a desperate descending city, which evolves and crumbles in unique ways based on the player’s decisions.
