COPENHAGEN, June 2, 2025 – Wombo Games, a new independent game development studio led by IO Interactive co-founder Janos Flösser, has revealed the first gameplay for its upcoming action-packed rogue-lite title, Raiders of Blackveil. The game is set to launch in Steam Early Access beginning July 11, 2025 and will be featured in the upcoming Steam NextFest beginning June 9. Raiders of Blackveil will blend MOBA-inspired champions, RPG-style loot and PVE extraction gameplay to create a deeply strategic game filled with challenging, fun encounters that can be experienced alone or with friends. Raiders of Blackveil’s Early Access launch will be just the first step into this new world created by Wombo Games. The Early Access build for the game is set to introduce the first third of planned content for Raiders of Blackveil’s 1.0 launch in 2026. As Wombo Games expands its “decision by committee” approach to include community feedback, the team will be looking at new ways to update and bring exciting content to the game, which already includes plans for two additional biomes and more playable characters.
“Raiders of Blackveil’s Early Access launch is just that, an early look at a game that’s still being built with lots more content planned before we officially launch,” said Christopher Nelson, Raiders of Blackveil’s game director. “At Early Access, we will have one biome, the factory, and four playable characters as we gear up to add more characters, locations, and content. We look forward to bringing out “decisions by consensus” approach to the community where they will have the chance to experiment with us as we push to make Raiders of Blackveil the best game it can be before 1.0 next year.”
Raiders of Blackveil is set in a dystopian industrial fantasy world where oppressed animals are taking up the fight against a human-led mega corporation called Blackveil. The game is a 1-3 player co-op experience where players will side with an animal rebellion that aims to overthrow the Blackveil corporation. As they make their way through the factory, players will be encountering fun yet challenging adventures that aim to thwart Blackveil’s attempt to enslave nature and enforce a mindless consumer society.
