London, UK – August 12th, 2025 – Playstack and Targon Studios have unleashed INVASION, the first major content update for the co-op horror extraction game Darkwater. Now live in Steam Early Access, INVASION expands and overhauls the core gameplay with fresh threats, tactical tools, and an entirely new district to explore.

Highlights include:

Stealth Overhaul – A new visual indicator shows just how hidden you are, while enemy AI now reacts to sound, creating more ways to evade danger.

Formidable Foes – four new aquatic creatures will roam the vacant outposts, some more dangerous than others, including the JUMBO CRAB

ARRR-Rated Enemies – 9 new variations of pirate submarines have been detected searching the depths.

Leviathan Alert – The Kraken. This monolithic creature will capture your submarine with its tentacles that are capable of piercing the hull. Avoid at all costs.

Expanded Arsenal – Arm your sub with Depth Charges and Explosive Harpoons, and craft supplies and equipment from the medical bay crafting bench. Also, keep an eye out for the new Command Room ship module – now available from the shop.

New Districts and Biomes – Explore the Frontier district and encounter four new biomes with your submarine.
Alongside these additions, INVASION brings performance optimizations, improved loading times, updates to enemy behavior, new items, and balance adjustments across the board.

About Darkwater
Assemble an elite team of up to 4 submariners as you attempt to survive the icy depths of an alien planet. A mysterious disease has left the surface colonies ravaged and the government has frozen the ocean in response. If your crew wants to survive, you’ll have to scavenge for all the fuel and credits you can carry. Dock your submarine to randomly generated deep-sea dungeons and face down what lurks below on foot. Infected divers lurk the halls of long-abandoned underwater hospitals waiting to strike, while alien creatures nest in forgotten factories. Each adversary responds to your presence in unique and unpredictable ways, so always keep your wits about you.
