Carrier Command: Gaea Mission goes 3D on PC

Aug 09, 2012

As part of bringing Carrier Command to the modern age, Bohemia Interactive has announced NVIDIA 3D Vision support for the Windows PC version of Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. The enhanced perception of depth blends perfectly with the game’s futuristic setting.

Those who expect gaming to drive the consumer adoption of 3D will see their belief fueled by the cutting edge 3D implementation in Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. “Supporting 3D Vision reaffirms the philosophy behind our game’s ‘NVIDIA: The Way It’s Meant to be Played’ label. Although personal preference will always be a factor, I think for many it will be part of the optimal experience and draw them even deeper into our game”, said Executive Producer Jan Kunt.

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission will also be playable at Bohemia Interactive’s booth at Gamescom. Here enthusiasts are welcomed to try out the Windows PC and Xbox 360 version of the game.

Take On Helicopters and Noisecontrollers get together for Free DLC

Aug 02, 2012

Dropping in clouds – In support of the free Take On Noisecontrollers DLC for Bohemia Interactive’s Take On Helicopters, the studio released a new developer’s blog on the unique collaboration with the famous DJ and producer duo. The article sheds some more light on the behind-the-scenes process of this remarkable venture.

In Noisecontrolled, Joris-Jan van ‘t Land, who created the Noisecontrollers DLC in his free time and is the Project Lead on Take On Helicopters, explains how the idea for mixing a helicopter game with hardstyle music came to be. He also vividly describes how it eventually tied in with one of the most popular hardstyle festival in the Netherlands, Defqon.1 2012.

Project Lead Joris-Jan van ‘t Land:

“At first glance it may not seem like a logical marriage: electronic music and helicopter games. The links between the two themes came from the personal interests of myself and several others who helped along the way. With this project I did not set out to optimize profits or find the biggest target audience. It’s important to keep in mind that TON was not developed in Bohemia Interactive’s work hours. Those involved contributed in their own time and because they wanted to deliver something cool. I’ll just go ahead and say it: this was purely selfish, and I’m proud to have done it!”

The full developer’s blog is now available at http://www.bistudio.com/english/company/developers-blog/321-noisecontrolled

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission beta shifts from P&C to pre-order

Jul 20, 2012

After a successful run of more than three months, Bohemia Interactive has announced the discontinuation of the Carrier Command: Gaea Mission Play & Contribute Beta program. The P&C beta – brought to life to aid the development process – will be replaced by a pre-order deal on Monday 30th July. This means people still have one and a half weeks left to seize the heavily discounted € 20 Play & Contribute offer (which includes beta-access anda digital copy of the final game) on Bohemia Interactive’s Store.bistudio.com.

Now that the game is nearing completion, feedback will no longer be necessary. Nevertheless, those who signed up for the P&C program will still able to play the beta.

Lead Designer, Jaroslav Kašný, said:

“As a result of the Play & Contribute Beta, we’ve been able to improve almost every aspect of the game. It was inspiring and motivating to see the wonderful response from our already passionate community. On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I’d like to thank you all for the great support!”

The new Store.bistudio.com pre-order deal, starting on Monday 30th July, offers a hefty 25%pre-order discount on Carrier Command: Gaea Mission for PC. It also gives people the opportunity to play the latest P&C beta build and try out the Strategy Game mode. The discount will decrease by the end of August.

To take advantage of the Carrier Command: Gaea Mission Play & Contribute deal while it still lasts, people are advised to visit Store.bistudio.com/carrier-command-gaea-mission before the end of next weekend.

About the beta-content:

The beta includes a considerable slice of the ‘Strategy Game’ mode. At the start of this mode, players will have to set a few starting parameters, like the number of islands (up to 9 in the beta and 30+ in the full game), the ratio of captured islands, and enemy strength. Then, by conquering and establishing a network of bases for manufacturing, mining and defense, the campaign is pushed forward, with the ultimate goal being to destroy the opposing enemy carrier. The main, story-driven, Gaea Mission campaign – which also features first-person shooter missions, cinematic cutscenes and tutorials – will be present in the full game.
