Hard Reset Redux Review

Jun 03, 2016

It’s hard not to mention DOOM when talking about a first person shooter today. Odd saying that as DOOM was once a game compared to all future released first person shooting games back in the 90’s and we might have a resurgence of that very same mentality now. Though before DOOM went back to its roots in 2016, we had Flying Wild Hog, getting in touch with their old school shooting in 2011. Hard Reset went back to a time where shooting was mostly just that and waves of enemies, yet also jumped forward to a setting far in the future of man versus robots. Hard Reset Redux is a refined and newly released version coming out on consoles containing both the core game and the expansion together in one new package. It’s it worth it? You bet your ass it is!

Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior and Hard Reset) have unveiled JUJU, a classic-style platformer for all ages with two-player cooperative play coming to PC and consoles later this year.

Hard Reset gets FREE Survival Mode and other enhancements

Flying Wild Hog’s debut shooter turned a lot of heads when it was released in September, thanks to its fast-paced, destructive action, unconventional weaponry and incredible visuals. We have wrote a (delayed) review on it. Flying Wild Hog is kicking the heart-pounding gameplay up a notch with the introduction of Survival Mode in the 1.2 patch, which is available today. Survival Mode unleashes wave after wave of robotic hell upon the player, who has make good use of weapon upgrades to delay the inevitable as long as possible. The new game mode is available in all of the game’s difficulty modes, and brings with it two new maps, as well as leaderboards to compare scores with friends.

In addition to Survival Mode, the 1.2 patch adds full NVIDIA 3D Vision and Surround support, as well as support for multiple displays. A number of other gameplay tweaks and fixes are also introduced in the patch, with Flying Wild Hog busily working on future content and gameplay updates.

Hard Reset Review

Sep 19, 2011

Following the quickest turnaround from the announcement to release, comes Hard Reset. A futuristic cyberpunk, robot-hating future, set in Bezoar City. I wrote about this game a month ago with my hands-on time with the preview build.

Well you probably saw it on the “Forthcoming Articles” section for the better part of last week that there was to be a Review for the PC-only, Hard Reset. Well, you’re right – it was SUPPOSED to happen. But Sunday night while playing the game, something happened and my videocard died. It locked up, gave me some hallucinogenic green wavy lines, and promptly rebooted. Every other game I tried playing had the same result. Luckily it can display the desktop, but once it goes into a DirectX game – it gets crazy looking.

First-time developers Flying Wild Hog have put together quite the first person shooter for the PC. This may be the best sci-fi/futuristic game that makes you feel like you’re Deckard from Blade Runner. Many parallels exist here: it’s the future, there are cybernetic implants, robots, and cities built high almost into the clouds. It absolutely screams cyberpunk top to bottom. My two or so hours with this lengthy hands-on demo left me wanting more.
