Dead Island 2 development halted as Deep Silver parts ways with YAGER

Today, Deep Silver has released a statement on the status of Dead Island 2, which was delayed until 2016. It seems though that with this announcement, it might be much longer of a wait before we see the game in its final form.

There is an update regarding development on Dead Island 2 from publisher Deep Silver below:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve.
 
After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER.
 
We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

This couldn’t have been an easy decision for Deep Silver to make, as they will be taking a monetary hit for not releasing the game after already delaying it, and finding a new developer to finish the game.
