SPACE PIRATES AND ZOMBIES 2 leaves Steam Early Access for Full Release today

From Press Release:

Do you have what it takes to survive in a hostile and persistent living galaxy as you build a spaceship, push back the spaze zombie threat, and contend with rival captains and pirates? Space Pirates and Zombies 2 is here to serve up a metric space-ton of explosive action in a galaxy that’s shaped not only by your own actions, but those of the 200 unique AI captains inhabiting it. Officially launching today on Steam and GOG for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux, Space Pirates and Zombies 2 is the definitive space battle sandbox.

Having begun its life in Steam Early Access, SPAZ 2 has grown exponentially in its journey towards launch. From quality of life improvements like the ability to make quick snap design modifications to your ship, to brand new features like a blueprint-based ship-building system reminiscent of the original SPAZ, the game’s passionate community has played a crucial role in its development. In particular, two features introduced in Early Access stand out as game-changers for the genre.

The first is full (and free) VR support for SPAZ 2, allowing HTC Vive and Oculus Rift owners to play the entire game in virtual reality. Introducing a re-worked, holographic UI, the ability to easily paint targets for destruction with a glance, and an improved sense of depth and scale thanks to clever eye positioning engineering, SPAZ 2 offers up an immersive space combat experience that’s unlike any you’ve ever seen. Don’t believe us? Check out these brand new GIFs and overview video of the VR mode in action!

This is further highlighted by Super Sandbox mode. Giving players access to 90 unique sliders, they are able to customize every facet of their SPAZ 2 experience, from the size and shape of the galaxy, to the maximum size of ships, all the way down to how long it takes a ship to reload its guns. That’s over 100 trillion possible galactic permutations, effectively putting the power of modding tools into the hands of regular players.

So, how will you tackle this ever-evolving galaxy? Will you slowly build up a death-dealing mothership capable of single-handedly taking on the space zombie menace? Will you forge partnerships with fellow captains in order to expand your growing space empire? The choice is up to you. After all, the galaxy doesn’t revolve around you – you’re just trying to survive in it.
