From Press Release:
SEATTLE – July 13th, 2023 – Astroneer, the award-winning interplanetary survival sandbox played by more than 12 million space explorers developed by System Era Softworks, voyages into uncharted territories with the free Custom Games Update available today on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and arriving on Switch in late July.
New avenues of customized exploration await eager astronauts. Experience Astroneer like never before with new planet generation options. Engineer a harsh, unforgiving universe with all-new Hardcore and Permadeath modes, or design an inviting planetary oasis with added accessibility options for rookie explorers to dip their toe into the Astroneer world.
Reach for the corners of the cosmos in a single player solo expedition, or with a crew of astronauts in a 4-player co-op adventure. Create entirely new scenarios starting from any planet, then share those configurations through shareable codes that allow you to spawn with items, per biome customizations, and more.
Blast off into the great beyond and reshape the solar system in a space sandbox adventure. Explore every inch of seven marvelous worlds in search of a mysterious power dispersed throughout the galaxy, and craft a path to discovery ranging from the void of space to cavernous planetary cores and everything in between.
Use the Terrain tool to dig, collect, shape and mold surrounding topography across seven distinct planets each with multiple biomes. Excavate a path underground and venture through caves to reach a planet’s core, or build a sky-high ramp to launch vehicles over rugged terrain. Mine resources and raw materials, and fashion structures with connected power sources to create a thriving home base.
Astroneer has garnered praise from across the galaxy, earning the title of Metacritic’s 60th most discussed PC game of 2019 and receiving numerous awards including the SXSW 2019 “Gamer’s Voice” Award, and multiple 2019 Webby awards including “Best Adventure Game”, “Best User Experience”, “Best Art Direction”, “Best Game Design”, and “Best Visual Design”.
“Astroneer’s continued success is in no small part thanks to our community of astronauts that started with us in 2016 with Steam Early Access,” says Joe Tirado, Project Lead on Astroneer at System Era Softworks. “With the Custom Games Update, the journey we’ve taken together can long continue with more options than ever before, and we look forward to seeing new and veteran explorers venture into the stars above.”
Astroneer is currently available on Steam at a 60% discount for $11.99, and available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $29.99. Astroneer supports the English, French, Italian, Spanish (Spain), Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese and Turkish languages.
