From Press Release:
July 3rd, 2026 – Indie horror game MOLE has launched on Steam and quickly reached a 97% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating with over 1,500 user reviews within its first two weeks.
Since release, the game gained attention from major content creators, including Jacksepticeye, Insym, Hollow, and others, who have praised and showcased the game to large audiences across YouTube and streaming platforms. Where MOLE has been highlighted as one of the best horror game of the year.
Developed by Off Black Creations and published by Oro Interactive, MOLE is a psychological horror game that places players inside a massive deep-bore drilling machine as they descend toward a mysterious signal buried beneath the Earth.
A Breakout Indie Horror Release
MOLE has resonated strongly with players thanks to its hands-on approach to machinery simulation and its focus on isolation, uncertainty, and psychological breakdown. Players are left to operate the vessel with no guidance, uncovering its systems through experimentation and failure.
As they descend, fragmented memories and environmental storytelling begin to surface, blending with the machine’s failing systems and the growing sense of something calling from below.
The game delivers approximately 3 to 4 hours of tightly designed horror sequences built around tactile system management, and narrative-driven exploration.
The Team Behind MOLE
Off Black Creations was founded by Sean Falk, a former AAA game developer who spent five years in the games industry before leaving to pursue a long-held dream: building an independent studio where creative direction could come first. Having previously worked as a level designer on GTFO, Sean took on the roles of studio founder, director, producer, and lead game designer for MOLE, guiding the project from a solo prototype into a full commercial release.
The first person to join him was his childhood friend, Karl Bergman. Despite never having worked professionally in the games industry before, MOLE became his first commercial game release, and he ultimately served as the project’s lead artist.
As development expanded, Sean realized he needed someone who could take ownership of the technical side of the project while also strengthening its narrative. He reached out to David, someone he had collaborated with years earlier on smaller projects. With a background in both programming and game writing, David became the project’s lead programmer and principal writer, helping transform the original concept into the story players ultimately experienced.
The final core member to join the team was Fredrik, who was initially brought on to compose the soundtrack and craft the sound design. Today, he works in AAA as a Technical Sound Designer, but on MOLE his role quickly expanded beyond audio to include creating many of the game’s animations.
Together, the four formed a small but highly collaborative team, with each member taking ownership of multiple disciplines throughout development. Despite coming from different backgrounds, they shared the same goal: creating the kind of atmospheric, story-driven horror game they themselves wanted to play.
