BOSTON, Massachusetts – July 23rd, 2026 — Today, Crate kicks open the door to Fangs of Asterkarn, marking a pivotal and exciting final chapter for the studio’s hit ARPG Grim Dawn. The new expansion is available now, alongside the free v1.3 update, which includes an enhanced inventory management system, UI overhaul, WASD accessibility controls, HDR lighting, detailed item tooltips, balancing, and bug fixes.
“This may not be Grim Dawn 2, but to us it is very much Grim Dawn 1.5. A massive expansion of everything you’ve loved about the game and so much more,” says Kamil Marczewski, Production Director at Crate Entertainment. “We’ve raised the quality bar in every way imaginable, with more custom unique art, more animations, a fantastic soundtrack recorded with a live orchestra, and a massive world that has never been more compelling to explore every inch of. Our final expansion is a love letter to the community that will send off Grim Dawn with a triumphant roar.”
The new 10th Mastery, Berserker, and the new Ascendant game mode are two spotlight features in Fangs of Asterkarn, but they’re only the tip of the iceberg. As players step into a new world that is many times the size of the previous Grim Dawn expansions, they will find a plethora of additions and enhancements that mirror the incredible depth the Crate Entertainment team has established over the 10 years since the game’s original launch:
- Conquer the Ascendant Game Mode – turn the campaign world into a challenge worthy of ascendant demigods, with every dungeon and boss encounter sure to test your limits. Ascend your equipment to attain incredible new power.
- A Transformative 10th Mastery – become a frenzied force of destruction upon the battlefield capable of shapeshifting into vicious beastlike forms.
- Potion Customization – alter your potions to suit your playstyle. Turn them into powerful tonics that restore your character’s vitality, or have them provide powerful unique buffs and effects.
- Affix Transmutation – reroll your rare and magic items to perfect your equipment.
- The Shattered Realm Grows – discover new regions and boss arenas being slowly consumed within the Shattered Realm’s unstable infinity.
- Awaken Epic Items – unleash the true potential of many Epic items to turn them into powerful implements worthy of Legends!
- Three Factions – parlay with the Kurn tribes and aid them in rekindling old alliances as you contend with the darker side of their bloody history. Learn ancient secrets from an unusual new ally.
- Tackle New Foes – test your mettle against new super bosses and additional Nemesis bosses for old factions. Five new hero monster archetypes populate the entirety of Cairn alongside to deliver new twists to old content.
- Two New Rogue-Like Dungeons – two new roguelike dungeons will be introduced with free content updates for the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion.
- Crucible Expanded – delve deeper into the Crucible’s challenges with thirty additional waves (requires the Crucible DLC).
