Next generation of flight combat sim, Korea. IL-2 Series is out now

August 4th, 2026 — Today, 1CGS proudly releases Korea. IL-2 Series, the next-generation in the illustrious combat flight simulation series. Korea is available on PC via the official IL-2 series website and Steam. Additionally, the team has shared the brand new launch trailer so the flight-curious and aviation enthusiasts all around can get a glimpse into what Korea has to offer.

Korea is a next-generation game of the IL-2 series. It is created on a new engine featuring updated damage and flight modeling. Players will be able to fly eight aircraft of that era. They were recreated in great detail using real blueprints, photographs, and documents:

★ F-86A-5 Sabre
★ F-51D Mustang
★ F-80C-10 Shooting Star
★ F-84E Thunderjet

Apart from player-controllable aircraft, there are dozens of machines on the battlefield and in the air, such as B-29 bombers, as well as meticulously recreated ground vehicles, trains, and ships.

The action takes place on the largest map in the series’ history: more than 200,000 square kilometers. It is not a modern Korea but a region from the early 1950s that was reconstructed using historical documents. On the map, there are dozens of airbases with accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, as well as ports and dams: all these places are connected by an extensive transport network.

1C Game Studios is a development and publishing studio founded in December 2012. In 10 years, its staff grew from 20 to 240 people. In 2014, 1CGS’s first project, IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, was released. Almost ten years later, more than 30 expansions and modules have been released in the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles franchise.

In January 2015, the studio began developing Caliber, an online tactical shooter. In December 2019, open beta testing was launched. Caliber was officially released in December 2024. In 2025 1CGS released Deathless. The Hero Quest, a roguelite deckbuilder based on the universe created by the well-known illustrator and writer Roman Papsuev. 1CGS is currently working on Korea. IL-2 Series, anticipated to release into Early Access and 1.0 in 2026.
