Update 0.5 announced for Gray Zone Warfare, begins Alpha phase & introduces crafting, drug wars, and unique new locations

From Press Release:

Brno, Czech Republic, September 3, 2026 – MADFINGER Games announces that tactical shooter Gray Zone Warfare is entering the Alpha development stage, bringing a major expansion to the game with a new gameplay loop, a richer and deeper world filled with carefully crafted details, new opportunities to acquire high-value loot, and further revelations surrounding the mysteries of Ground Zero. The transition into this new stage of development will arrive with Update 0.5 this fall.

“We’re incredibly excited to announce another major update that introduces game-changing features such as the hideout, crafting, drug smuggling, multiple playable characters, and incredible new locations,” says Tomáš Nawar, spokesperson for MADFINGER Games. “The highly detailed design of these new locations will also significantly expand the game’s lore.”

What’s New in Update 0.5

Update 0.5 will allow players to build their own hideout. Here, they can invest their hard-earned resources in constructing advanced laboratories, enabling them to produce rare items and valuable contraband.

One example of such contraband is narcotics, which players will need to smuggle off the island after producing them. This new activity promises substantial rewards, but also comes with enormous risk, as players from rival factions will be able to hunt down the smugglers.

The hideout will continue to evolve and ultimately open the path to the endgame of Gray Zone Warfare.

The new update will also bring major changes to the map of Lamang, introducing several new locations that significantly expand the gameplay experience and reveal more of the game’s underlying story.

At the massive Radar installation, players will explore a complex, multi-level facility featuring extensive vertical architecture while searching for high-value loot.

Another new location, the Asylum, is a sinister place that strongly reflects the darker side of Lamang. Its long, haunting corridors bear the traces of the torture that was once routine there, as the island’s dictator used the facility to dispose of those who stood in his way.

The Military Camp, located on the edge of Ground Zero, will present another major challenge. It is a fully reconstructed military base with a sprawling layout and tough, well-trained enemies. Here, players will have an opportunity to uncover the secrets behind the first expeditions into Ground Zero.

A major gameplay change comes with the ability to create multiple playable characters (up to four), allowing players to experience every faction and team up with friends more easily than ever before.

Progression between the game modes will also be completely separated. Players will no longer be able to stockpile equipment in PvE and then bring that gear into the more challenging world of PvEvP.

In addition to these new features, players can look forward to much more, including improvements to existing mechanics and additional new content. MADFINGER Games will gradually reveal further details through its official channels.
