Battle Brothers and the first Darkwood join the Hooded Horse family, though no new content is planned beyond maintenance

December 1, 2025 – Hooded Horse is delighted to announce that it’s expanding its partnership with two existing development partners to include not only the first Darkwood game, but also everyone’s favourite brother, Battle Brothers.

Effective immediately, Hooded Horse will be integrating the PC versions of Overhype Studios’ legendary tactical RPG and Acid Wizard’s seminal horror survival classic into its robust publishing ecosystem of world-class strategic and tactical games. While this doesn’t mean a renewed commitment to further content (beyond what the respective developers have already committed to), these games will benefit from dedicated long-term commercial support, much like Mimimi Games’ Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, which joined the portfolio as a legacy title last year.

Darkwood 2 was announced earlier this year during the ID@XBOX Fall 2025 showcase, while Overhype’s second game MENACE has generated over 500,000 wishlists on Steam ahead of its February 2026 release.

“We’ve absolutely loved working with these studios; it’s been a joy to partner up on MENACE and Darkwood 2,” says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. “We’re so thrilled that they have enjoyed working with us as well and want to continue and deepen that relationship to their past games.”

Battle Brothers is available on PC via Steam and GOG.

Darkwood is available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

This agreement does not extend to the console versions of either game.
