Scale the Depths, the viral and casual fishing game is out today on Steam

From Press Release:

Calgary & Warsaw, May 28, 2026 – Turns out, a game about carefully scaling fish with increasingly unreasonable tools can get very out of hand. Since announcing its release date, Scale the Depths has only gotten fishier. The numbers kept climbing, the internet kept watching, and after hooking over 300,000 demo players and 200,000 wishlists, the full version is finally available on Steam.
🎣

Developed by Canadian team Glass Gecko Games and published by Pretty Soon, Scale the Depths takes the weirdly satisfying loop that got players hooked in the demo – fish → scale → serve → upgrade → go deeper – and expands it into a full underwater descent packed with new locations, more fish, stranger customers, upgrades, secrets, collectibles, customization, and a suspicious amount of lore for a game that appears, at first glance, to be about preparing seafood.

Players step into the tiny metal shoes of a fishmonger robot whose job is simple: catch fish, prepare them properly, and serve them to hungry customers. The customers, unfortunately, are not always simple. Some are cute. Some are picky. Some are mythical. Some are ancient beings that probably shouldn’t be ordering dinner from a tiny robot on a boat.

Learn who likes what, serve the right fish, earn bigger tips, upgrade your gear, and dive deeper into places where the fish get bigger, the secrets get stranger, and the question of “why is this robot fishing, actually?” becomes harder to ignore.

About the game

Fish, scale, sell, repeat. Scale the Depths is a casual fishing game built around this simple but satisfying loop. Feed hungry customers, upgrade your gear, and uncover the many secrets hidden beneath the surface!

Why people got hooked

Scale the Depths is built around a simple but dangerously sticky idea: catch fish, prepare them, sell them, upgrade your gear, and go deeper.

But the full release adds much more around that loop:

  • Prepare fish with butter knives, katanas, Zweihanders, and other deeply questionable tools – just don’t move too fast, unless you enjoy ruining dinner.
  • Serve opinionated customers, from familiar animals to legendary creatures like Nessie and Kelpie.
  • Explore distinct locations inspired by real-world places, including Loch Ness, Point Nemo, and more.
  • Hunt for secrets underwater, from hidden treasures and messages in bottles to environmental puzzles and old records.
  • Upgrade your gear and customize your boat, because even ancient cryptids deserve dinner served with style.
  • Uncover a deeper mystery, one artifact, strange note, and suspiciously important fish at a time.
