Game dev sim meets RPG Builder Let’s Build a Dungeon launches into Early Access on February 11th

From Press Release:

SEPTEMBER 20 – Independent studio Springloaded has revealed the release date for upcoming game development simulator Let’s Build a Dungeon. The true-to-life game dev sim meets RPG builder will launch into Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview for PC on February 11, 2027. The game recently surpassed 195,000 wishlists and a demo is available to play now on Steam and the Windows Store.

Players will begin their game development journey from February 11 as Let’s Build a Dungeon launches with four unique game modes, multiple quest pillars and a content library filled with thousands of hand drawn assets to bring custom worlds to life.

In a uniquely meta twist, players will manage their game studio and develop their very own MMORPG up until the milestone of releasing their game into ‘GameLink Early Access’ – a parody of real world Early Access programmes. As Let’s Build a Dungeon continues to receive substantial updates throughout the Steam Early Access period on the road to 1.0 launch, players will be invited to expand their own creations and progress further into the game’s Campaign Mode towards the full release of their own game.

“By allowing players to mimic the real-life development cycle of Let’s Build a Dungeon within the game, we’re making good on our commitment to show players what game development is really like,” said Game Director James Barnard.

“In the exact same way that our players need to adapt to the feedback of their virtual players to succeed in Campaign Mode, we know that we need to do the same and take as much valuable feedback as we can from our community during Early Access. Incorporating their feedback will make for the best possible 1.0 release – so it’s become this sort of meta, symbiotic relationship.”

In a new trailer screened during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, Springloaded showcased the push and pull between developer and player with a narrative based on the realities of working to respond to player feedback.

“The trailer is about a fake game being made in Campaign Mode – but of course it’s also about Let’s Build a Dungeon. Lots of our own experiences as an indie studio are already in the game and we love blurring the lines between what is in-universe and what is real-life. If you have the privilege of a passionate community who enjoy your game enough to want more features and more content – it’s nice to return that respect and try to do everything you can to deliver a great game they can enjoy. Launching into Early Access will allow us to work with our community to do just that.”

As well as developing their own game up to an Early Access release in the simulation-driven Campaign Mode, players will be able to try their hand at three additional game modes.
  • Campaign Mode – An in-depth, multi-layered game development simulation combining studio management, RPG creation and hands-on playtesting
  • Just Build Mode – A streamlined, low-pressure world-building experience powered by a relaxing deck-building system
  • Creative Mode – An open sandbox packed with accessible game-making tools and full creative control
  • Dungeoneering Mode – Explore curated experiences by Springloaded, other developers and the Let’s Build a Dungeon community
  • Twitch Integration – Multiple options for collaborations, including inviting chat into the game as virtual players and letting them vote on key studio decisions

Let’s Build a Dungeon is available to wishlist now on Steam and is coming to PC and Xbox in partnership with Kowloon Nights.
