From Press Release:
BRNO, Czech Republic – October 22, 2026 – Czech game studio MADFINGER Games today released Rogue Ops, the fourth major update for its open-world tactical shooter Gray Zone Warfare. Marking the game’s transition from pre-alpha to alpha, the update significantly expands the gameplay experience, introducing new ways for players to operate as independent mercenaries and bringing them another step closer to the core mystery of the game, Ground Zero.
With more than 1.7 million copies sold, Gray Zone Warfare has undergone a substantial transformation since its Early Access launch in April 2024. Following several major updates focused on improving and expanding the game’s foundations, Rogue Ops introduces an entirely new layer of gameplay built around player choice, progression, and risk versus reward.
“Gray Zone Warfare is becoming much more than just a Mil-Sim – Insider Gaming”
“Rogue Ops represents a major milestone for Gray Zone Warfare and an important step toward realizing our vision for the game,” said Marek Rabas, CEO and Creative Director at MADFINGER Games. “We’ve spent the previous updates strengthening the game’s foundations. Now we’re building on them with a new gameplay loop that gives players greater freedom, more meaningful decisions, and new ways to progress. The Hideout and its associated activities are just the beginning of what we have planned as players move closer to Ground Zero.”
At the heart of Rogue Ops is the Hideout, a personal base of operations where players can manufacture medical supplies, produce illegal substances, process sensitive military technology, and craft specialized equipment. The new systems introduce additional economic opportunities and meaningful decisions. Players can sell their products directly to vendors or risk transporting valuable contraband across Lamang for substantially greater rewards.
The new Smuggling and Hunting activities turn these decisions into high-stakes operations. Smugglers must deliver valuable cargo to designated locations, risking interception by rival mercenaries seeking to claim the shipment for themselves. Both activities are also available in PvE, where players face AI-controlled opposition.
Rogue Ops also expands Lamang with three major high-difficulty locations, including an abandoned psychiatric institution, a military research facility, and a radio observatory, alongside more than 15 smaller locations. Players can discover seven new firearms, hundreds of weapon parts, and additional equipment. The update also introduces multiple playable characters and the game’s first soft wipe, preserving player progression while resetting equipment and currency.
Beyond the new content, Rogue Ops delivers extensive improvements to NPC behavior, animations, audio, combat, and the health system. An upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.7 brings further performance optimizations, and additional anti-cheat measures strengthen the game’s defenses.
To celebrate the launch, MADFINGER Games is introducing a Twitch Drops campaign running from October 22 to November 6, offering exclusive cosmetic rewards and useful in-game supplies.
Gray Zone Warfare is now available on Steam at a 35% discount until November 5. Rogue Ops is available as a free update for all players.
The road to Ground Zero begins.
