Video games are a form of escapism, and this was a year we needed that more than ever. It’s great that 2018 had some amazing games, from the beginning all the way through until the end. There was something for everyone to enjoy and spend upwards of 100 hours playing. While it made the task of formulating a list of the best games of the year especially difficult, this is a good problem to have.
Let’s face it, Newport News TV has the best motion graphics thanks to Ed (give them a Like 👍). Aside from real-life obligations and settling into married life, Ed played a lot of games this year. The best ones in his opinion are ordered and numbered for your reading convenience.
Abdul is our Editor-at-Large, and while his reviews were minimal, it didn’t stop him from playing this year’s biggest and brightest hits. If it weren’t for this year’s games, he’d be playing something retro like a classic Mortal Kombat release. Now he has Mortal Kombat 11 to look forward to next year.
Evan is a friend first and foremost, but last year we became co-workers at our day jobs too. Which, is just the coolest thing. It pleases me greatly he’s now a father (to one h*ckin’ cute kid, I might add). I think it’s safe to say 2018’s been good to him, and to games. And after a hiatus of making a list for 2017, he’s back with a surprising amount of games played this year for a new dad.
Rockstar Games has announced a new release date target for Red Dead Redemption 2. It isn’t what many were hoping for. It’s not quite a delay, but going to take longer than originally expected.
