Today Stardock posted a news item for their loyal fans discussing sales of the recently released Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.
The article is here http://www.stardock.com/about/
• In the short release window (mid-June) they’ve sold 100,000+ copies of the game
• They briefly discuss the difference between sell-in vs sell-through
• Positive reviews and even some Editor’s Choice Awards
“When we combine our direct sales of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion with the sales from GameStop, we see unit sales similar to what we’ve seen previously when at retail. This contradicts our projection that sales via Steam would share the overall digital pie we’d previously seen,” said Brad Wardell, president & CEO of Stardock. “Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion on Steam didn’t cannibalize its GameStop or direct sales.”
It’s neat to see companies be so open and honest about sales and what things mean. Transparency can be a good thing. Stardock has had some rough launches with games like Demigod and Elemental, but SoaSE has always been strong for them. We look forward to seeing more of Sins of a Dark Age.
It was announced today that Capcom will release Resident Evil Revelations in North America for Nintendo 3DS on February 7, 2012. According to Capcom the game will feature a brand new story, new characters, and new locations for the Resident Evil series. Being that this is a 3DS release there will be some form of 3D graphics represented.
Big news though is that gamers who pre-order with GameStop will receive a unique Resident Evil Revelations 3DS case with an image that will change when taken out into the sunlight. It’s a pretty nifty case and I’m curious how the case changes image in daylight. I’ve only ever seen color changing toys in water and those 3D packages where you can twist the object and see a 3D image, never a image that changes in sunlight.
If you’re looking to pickup this game and want some extra protection for your 3DS, this sounds like a good deal.
”Set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, the all new episodic narrative sees fan favorite characters Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield paired with new BSAA members Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat on their search to discover the truth about the Veltro terrorist organization and the T-Abyss virus outbreak. Players will need to make use of the unique Nintendo 3DS touch screen to solve puzzles and switch between weapons as they try to survive the horror that awaits them around every corner. Environments will need to be scanned with the Genesis Scanner to reveal hidden items and identify enemies. With more characters, brand new enemies and conspiracies still to be unveiled Resident Evil Revelations promises an authentic Resident Evil experience when it launches on Nintendo 3DS in February.”
