2016’s Hitman was my Game of the Year that year and with good reason, it was fun, you could get creative, and there was a lot to do. Hitman was labeled Season 1, teasing people of a Season 2 of content; none of that transpired. This was a blessing in disguise though, as the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, they’ve all followed the same basic formula. Pick your loadout, travel to a location, track your target, and dispose of them. In the newer iterations of Hitman, this means as loudly or as silently as you’d like. You’ll score more points with a silent takedown of course, but the big fancy loud ones can be just as self-rewarding. It’s great that you can make this game as challenging as you’d like and still feel like the bad-ass assassin that Agent 47 is.

Analogous to the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Monolith’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor goes beyond the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien to etch itself rightfully between the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”. It successfully crutches on what can be considered as faithful to the source material without being belligerent with the ways it creates something new. With excellent combat, exciting and smooth traversal, and meaningful upgrades, this is a sleeper hit that’s possibly “Game of the Year”.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment released new screens and a new trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us revealing the two new characters which were showcased at the San Diego Comic-Con. Attendees got a glimpse of the cybernetic hero Cyborg and the prior boy wonder himself, Nightwing. That gives use a cast of characters of: Batman, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, and Wonder Woman so far with many more to come. The game is looking more amazing every time I see more of it; Ed boon and company are going to have another knock out hit on their hands. Now only if Warner and Disney could play nice and we get a NetherRealm Marvel vs DC…
The game is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3, and the Wii U .
