Wait, wait come back! Yes it’s a motocross game featuring avatars, but it’s pretty competent. It’s a bit rough around the edges both graphically and gameplay, but it is a follow-up to the classic games. Developed by Bongfish who brought us the Stoked snowboarding games. A coin system as currency is in place to buy upgrades and unlock bikes and gear. Your avatar can be imported as is with all the items you were wearing on the dashboard. It feels solid and I think that the tricks stick and animate long after you’ve let them go, forcing you to crash – which sucks.
There is a free roam mode like the older games. Now with challenges and collectibles to give a reason to go in there. And yes, hit the edge of the map you’re flung and incredible amount back towards the center of the map. All races and free roam are available online. Split-screen supports 2 players.
It’s coming… “soon”.
