Valheim adds ‘Hard Mode’ alongside new vendor and customizations in “Hildir’s Request” Update today
From Press Release:
SKÖVDE, Sweden – 16 June, 2023: Today, Coffee Stain Publishing and Iron Gate Studio welcome Hildir, merchant à la mode, to their smash hit viking survival game Valheim for an initial public testing period. As well as providing players with a sizable wardrobe of cosmetics, Hildir will also send players on a journey to recover her store inventory. New difficulty levels and game options also land on Valheim’s shores to improve and spice up general gameplay.
Sister of the mysterious cloaked dwarf trader Haldor, Hildir peddles a variety of aesthetic wares, including fashionable dresses, tunics, hats, and even fireworks to decorate the night sky. Vikings can also purchase from Hildir the components necessary to build a barbershop, where they can undergo a makeover worthy of Odin to update their look. But these features won’t just appear – only those accomplished enough to gather the necessary parts for Hildir’s Request across multiple biomes will reap the rewards.
What’s more, Valheim’s famously unforgiving nature will reach even greater heights. With the introduction of difficulty levels, players can choose to turn on easy, normal or hard mode at any time in their playthrough. While normal mode will maintain Valheim’s current difficulty, hard mode will increase enemies’ HP and damage output. Equally, to improve accessibility, easy mode will cater to those previously deterred by Valheim’s perils in a lighter, more accommodating adventure ideal for the pacifists and builders.
Valheim hit PC Early Access in February 2021 to widespread critical praise, as it quickly gained an avid fan base of millions and a wealth of industry accolades. Since then, the game has seen two major content updates, Hearth and Home and Mistlands, with launches on Microsoft Store and PC GamePass, and more recently Xbox consoles and Xbox GamePass.
Valheim is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series XIS and Xbox GamePass, as well as on Microsoft Store, PC Game Pass, and Steam Early Access for PC and Linux. The official press kit is available here, and you can follow Valheim on Twitter and Discord.
