Skövde, Sweden — 13th September: Lightyear Frontier, the intergalactic open-world farming adventure from FRAME BREAK and Amplifier Studios, is proud to unveil the trailer for its Neighbors and Animals Update, launching on September 30th. The latest update introduces new neighbor characters, exciting new animals and animal care mechanics, as well as expanded customization options that further flesh out the world of Lightyear Frontier.
With the Neighbors and Animals Update, players will have the chance to welcome new friends to their planet, each with unique stories and questlines that reward players with new buildings and items, and new ways to interact with the world around them:
- Ulf, a returning character, now plays a key role in guiding players through the fascinating world of plants and the newly introduced Seed Splicing. By assisting him in his research, players can experiment with spliced seeds, which have the potential to produce mutated crops. These unique crops can be sold for a higher value, or used in decorations.
- Diane, the latest addition to the cast, introduces the Animal Care system, guiding players through the process of discovering and nurturing new and existing animals. Diane’s questline also unlocks the ability to leave animals at her sanctuary, making it easier than ever for players to care for their animal companions.
Alongside tending to pre-existing critters, Abandoned Eggs can also be found scattered across the wilderness. Players can gather these up to hatch at their homesteads.
With the right care – including food, water, and lots of love – these babies will grow and produce unique resources, which players can use to craft new decorations and constructs. Exofarmers can also personalise their animals with hats and accessories, giving them unique character and adding a stylish touch to the farm. The update also introduces two brand new animals to the roster of familiar creatures players know and love: the mystical Crystalhoof, and the playful Mox.
In addition to all of these new companions, the Neighbors and Animals Update also brings a wide range of new craftable items and constructs, giving players even more options to decorate their farm and pre-designed neighbor homes. Grass rendering has also been completely overhauled, with more dynamic environmental interactions and enhanced visual quality, making the world feel even more vibrant and immersive. A new Lawnmower mode will make it even easier to customise the landscape, allowing players the opportunity to trim the grass on their farmstead.
