Next DLC for roguelike city builder Against the Storm seems to be centered around bats in new reveal

April 4, 2025 – Hooded Horse and Eremite Studios have more in store for their best-selling dark fantasy roguelite city builder Against the Storm. Prepare for the next expedition, as new DLC is set to arrive later this year, featuring a new biome, new mechanics, and— checks notes —Bats!

Joining the menagerie of fantastical creatures that serve the Scorched Queen, Bats are a stern and fiercely devoted people, taking pride in enduring what breaks others – they do not take failure lightly. Bats excel at metallurgy but find no particular comfort in any specific type of work.

Instead, they have a passive ability called Dedication, where they gain Resolve when members of other species leave or die. You read more in the official announcement post here.

Eremite is running an open alpha for anyone who wants to help test the new content, and you can find details on how to get involved here. Meanwhile, Against the Storm has surpassed another sales milestone, selling over 1.5 million copies since launch.

Against the Storm is available on PC via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store for $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 / ¥3,980. It’s also available on PC Game Pass. The game currently holds a 95% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam with nearly 28,000 reviews.
