Glacial Strata biome revealed for Heavy Duty Expansion coming to Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

From Press Release:

Today, Ghost Ship Games and Funday Games have revealed a cool new biome coming in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor’s recently announced Heavy Duty Expansion on April 30th – the Glacial Strata Biome!

Designed with fast-paced chaos in mind and developed based on the fan-favourite biome in Deep Rock Galactic, the Glacial Strata introduces a more explosive, momentum-driven experience. The environment is just as dangerous as the swarm, but this can also be turned to the dwarves’ advantage.

Smooth ice patches send dwarves sliding at high speed, while fragile ice crystals can be shattered to rain icicles down from above, damaging anything caught beneath them (including unlucky miners). Meanwhile, the local glyphids have adapted to the freezing conditions, with Cryo Exploders unleashing icy blasts in place of their usual fiery detonations.

Glacial Strata Key Features

  • Slip, Slide, Survive
    • Large ice patches boost movement speed but reduce control, making quick escapes easier – if dwarves can stay on their feet
  • Icicle Incoming
    • Shattering ice crystals triggers falling icicles from above, damaging both enemies and miners alike
  • Ice-Cold Enemies
    • Cryo Exploders swap fire for frost, freezing anything caught in their blast radius
  • Frozen Foundations
    • Varying rock and ice densities create a more dynamic mining experience throughout the biome
  • More Ways to Play

    • Additional objectives are added to each run, offering more variety and flexibility without adding extra progression requirements, so players can choose which challenges to focus on.
