From Press Release:
CHICAGO (June 10, 2026) – NuChallenger today celebrates the launch of Beatdown City Survivors on PC (via Steam) and Xbox. Announced at IGN Fanfest 2025, the game pits players against hordes of bloodthirsty zombies, irradiated mutants, and hapless cops in a darkly hilarious send-up of New York City. Escape is the goal, but to do that you’ll need to tinker with off-the-wall weapon combos – what happens, for example, when you stuff a pigeon inside a booth? – and enlist a colorful cast of survivors to the fight.
It’s Escape From New York meets Dead Rising with a killer underground hip-hop soundtrack driving the action.
Beatdown City Survivors is set for release on PC (via Steam) and Xbox on June 10, 2026 with a retail price $9.99. Early bird players on PC can enjoy a 20% launch discount price of $7.99 for the first two weeks of release. Xbox Game Pass subscribers, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to enjoy Beatdown City Survivors right away as a day one Game Pass release.

“Beatdown City Survivors started from a place of pain. It was conceived as my goodbye letter to a deteriorating NYC, the place that I called home for most of my life,” said Shawn Alexander Allen, CEO and founder of NuChallenger. “Now it’s launching as my love letter to a flourishing NYC, and Hip-Hop as a whole. All surrounded by a really fun, systems-driven zombie action game, as you do.”
Beatdown City Survivors picks up the story from NuChallenger’s debut release, the Kickstarter-funded hit Treachery in Beatdown City. Wealthy prison mogul Andre Canary stages a mayoral coup, pinning all of the city’s struggles to the social bogeyman of crime in order to enrich himself. The police budget soars as cutbacks come for other city services, driving out residents and leaving the streets littered with toxic waste, abandoned cars, and unholy terrors. In the midst of all this chaos, Treachery heroes Lisa, Brad, and Bruce return to save the day once more.
Following its Kickstarter success, Treachery in Beatdown City launched in 2020, with the Los Angeles Times hailing it as “the most relevant game” of that year and Paste placing it at #14 on its list of 2020’s top games. The free “Ultra Remix” update arrived in 2023, bringing a significant expansion of the story along with new levels, enemies, music, and ways to fight, as well as a deeper exploration of core themes that resonate now into Beatdown City Survivors.
