September 21, 2026 – Games Done Quick’s all-women and femmes summer speedrunning event Flame Fatales, which ran September 13-19, concluded in the very early hours of Sunday morning with $132,100 raised. Flame Fatales 2026 benefited Malala Fund, a non-profit that works to secure free, safe, and quality education for girls around the world.
The week-long speedrunning marathon took place online and was broadcast on Games Done Quick’s Twitch and YouTube channels. Viewers watched zany and remarkably talented speedruns of contemporary and older games alike. The event opened with Remedy’s Control and concluded with Mass Effect 3. Some highlights included indie rhythm game UNBEATABLE’s hard song showcase, the New Game+ run of Resident Evil: Requiem, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ villager-hunting lockout bingo.
Organized by GDQ’s Frame Fatales community, Flame Fatales – and its winter sister event Frost Fatales – highlight the women, femme, and nonbinary gamers of the speedrunning community while raising money for charity. To date, Frame Fatales has raised over $1 million across their events.
Many more GDQ speedrun marathons are on the horizon. Next month, Games Done Queer returns for its second year, running online Oct 3-4 and raising funds for Lambda Legal. Next year, Awesome Games Done Quick heads to Atlanta, GA from January 3 to 9. Summer Games Done Quick returns to Minneapolis, MN June 20-26.
