Survival horror 2.5D metroidvania Silver Pines launches onto PC and consoles today

From Press Release:

Thursday, 8th October 2026 – Silver Pines, the creepy survival-horror game from Swedish developer Wych Elm, has launched today, publisher team17 has confirmed. Available on Steam (and verified for Steam Deck), Epic Games Store, Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, Silver Pines is a surreal experience that puts players into the shoes of private investigator Red Walker, who finds himself in the eponymous and seemingly abandoned small town tasked with finding missing musician, Eddie Velvet.

Silver Pines combines classic survival-horror puzzle solving and resource/inventory management with Metroidvania exploration, locked doors, and hidden paths. As Walker descends into darkness investigating the town’s sinister secrets, players will encounter the terrors that now walk its streets, overcome nightmarish demonic bosses hidden in the shadows, and solve the mystery of Eddie Velvet’s disappearance. This, combined with a hand-crafted, rotoscoped art style and 2.5D side-scrolling perspective, provides a unique and compelling experience for players.

Key features

  • An experience of mystery and dread: Embark on a journey filled with atmospheric dread. The small town of Silver Pines is waiting to reveal its dark secrets.
  • Survival-horror gameplay: A love letter to classic survival-horror, from a unique 2.5D perspective. Fight or evade the terrors of the town as you scavenge for resources and solutions to the puzzles blocking your way.
  • Metroidvania navigation: Filled with locked doors and hidden paths, every turn holds an uncovered clue, a new tool, resource… or something waiting in the dark.
  • Visceral, grounded action: Overcome the horrors populating the town that keep every heart-stopping encounter tense and dangerous.
  • Resource & inventory management: Inventory space is limited! Search everywhere for items because every bullet, bottle of medicine, and upgrade matters.
  • Dreamlike visuals: Hand-painted, rotoscoped animations, coupled with a neo-noir inspired aesthetic, makes Silver Pines a visually striking, otherworldly experience.
  • Suspicious townsfolk: Meet and interact with Silver Pines’ strange cast of characters making up its populace, as you delve into the mysteries they keep from outsiders.

Linus Larsson, co-founder, Wych Elm, said: “Silver Pines is four years in the making, and the road here has been a long and strange one for our five person team. We’re thrilled to finally be able to welcome everyone to experience our small town descent into the surreal. Silver Pines is our art house love letter to survival-horror, metroidvania and ’90s neo noir detective fiction. Those influences are baked into the strange little town we’ve created, and we hope to give players an experience we’re so often treated to in movies but so rarely in games.”

Harley Homewood, General Manager, team17, said: “It’s a joy to work with those you know and trust. And Wych Elm, made up from developers who designed the BAFTA-winning Yoku’s Island Express for team17, haven’t disappointed. From rotoscoped motion capture to some unnerving narrative design, they’ve innovated and delivered something unique in such a tried and tested genre.”

The standard version Silver Pines is available now with a 10% discount across all platforms, with an RRP of £21.99/$24.99/€24.99; a deluxe edition of the game, which includes a digital artbook and soundtrack, is priced at £27.99/$31.99/€31.99.
